Bill Evans may have been "only" a pianist, but his style has influenced many musicians, not only pianists. Interpretations of jazz in general have changed since Bill Evans first emerged on the scene with his impressionist harmony and polyrhythmic melodic lines. Pat Metheny and Bill Charlap are two examples of non-pianists who were influenced by Evans.
